Why We Try to NOT Be Everything

Have you noticed protein is on everything now?

Protein ice cream. Protein chips. Protein cookies. Protein brownies.

It’s not that those things needed protein. It’s that a lot of people care about protein right now, so companies staple it on to grab a bigger crowd.

The more boxes you check, the more people you attract. That’s the whole logic.

Fitness does the same thing, but worse.

Walk into most gyms and they’ll tell you they do everything. Come here and you’ll get stronger, leaner, more flexible, more explosive, better balance. We’ll fix your injuries, prevent new ones, coach your nutrition, dial in your sleep, and hand you a community on the way out.

Sounds great. Until you do the math.

You’ve got maybe two or three hours a week to train. That’s it. Every promise a gym makes has to come out of that same small budget of time.

Ten minutes of mobility at the start. Five minutes of balance drills. A foam rolling station. Breathing and stretching to cool down. Suddenly a third of your hour is gone, spent on things that barely move the needle, before you’ve done the two things that actually change your body.

Full range of motion Strength training. Moderate to high intensity Cardiovascular work.

Those are the main needle-movers. Most of the rest is there to check a box and make the gym look like it does more.

When you try to be great at ten things, you end up pretty good at none of them.

Here’s how we think about it: be the thing you are, and be excellent at it.

If you’re an Oreo, be an Oreo for the people who love Oreos. Don’t turn yourself into a protein Oreo to chase a crowd that was never going to love you anyway.

We get people in better shape. We get them stronger. We help them lose fat. And we get people to enjoy exercise and stay with it consistently, That’s what we are. And because we’re not splitting our attention twelve ways, we can be very good at it.

We’d rather do a few things that matter and do them extremely well than sell you a longer list.
