Holiday snack season is here. Uh-oh!
As we all know, some foods disappear faster than others.
In an NIH study, people ate about 500 more calories a day on an ultra-processed diet than on a minimally processed one.
They could eat as much as they wanted. In two weeks, they gained about 2 pounds on the ultra-processed diet and lost about 2 pounds on the other.
Some snacks are just easier to keep eating. Here’s a simple holiday guide.
Snack on more
Fruit. Greek yogurt. Nuts. Cheese. Veggies and hummus. Turkey or chicken. Hard-boiled eggs.
Pass up a little more
Chips. Cookies. Candy. Packaged crackers. Sugary drinks. Anything you can eat by the handful without thinking.
Nothing is banned. Just tip the mix toward the first list when you can.
