If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought,
“What is wrong with me… why can’t I just stick to a plan?”
this letter is for you.
I’m James Pratt, owner of Pratt Personal Training.
Most of the people who end up loving it here start with thoughts like:
“I JUST DON’T HAVE ENOUGH DISCIPLINE.”
“I struggle to keep up with any exercise routine.”
“Life keeps getting in the way… or I get bored and stop.”
“I’m not really an ‘exercise person.’”
You’re not broken. Most regular people feel this way before they find something that actually fits their life.
“I DON’T WANT TO GET HURT OR EMBARRASSED.”
“I don’t want to get injured.”
“I’m nervous and intimidated by most gyms and classes.”
“I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up.”
“I don’t want to be yelled at to ‘push harder’ like I’m in the military.”
You might be picturing yourself thrown into intense workouts, lifting heavy barbells, or doing things your body isn’t ready for. That fear is completely normal.
“I DON’T WANT TO LIVE ON CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI.”
“It’s pointless unless I go all-in on a strict diet.”
“I still want to live a normal life, not work out 2 hours a day and starve myself.”
“I don’t want to feel horrible after every workout or be sore for a week.”
You want to feel leaner and stronger, improve flexibility and core strength, and still enjoy your life. That’s not too much to ask.
“I JUST WANT TO FEEL CONFIDENT AGAIN.”
You might simply want to:
- Feel better in your clothes
- Feel comfortable going out with friends or seeing family
- Have more energy for your kids or grandkids
- Stop feeling like you’re “starting over” all the time
If any of that sounds familiar, I get it more than you might think.
MY STORY: 240 POUNDS AT 12 YEARS OLD
I was 240 pounds when I was 12 years old.
I did Weight Watchers many times.
I did the Atkins diet many times.
I went for runs in the summer wearing sweats because I thought sweating more would make the weight come off faster.
I would go all-in on strict diets and intense routines…
Then burn out and go all-out the other way.
I felt helpless and convinced I’d be very overweight for the rest of my life.
It affected my athleticism.
It affected me socially.
It crushed my confidence.
I couldn’t control my appetite, and when I started eating I couldn’t stop. I obsessed over high-calorie foods and would eat until I was stuffed.
In high school, I found strength training.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was the first thing I could consistently come back to. It became the starting point for real, long-term change in my health and fitness.
Over time, I lost about 70 pounds.
No magic trick.
No 6-week bootcamp.
No “Tupperware-only” diet.
Just sustainable changes that added up.
That experience is the foundation of what we do at Pratt Personal Training.
WHAT WE DO DIFFERENTLY AT PRATT PERSONAL TRAINING
Our goal is simple:
Help you look and feel better in a way you can actually stick with.
Here’s how we do that:
- Customized strength training and cardio based on your ability, your goals, and your starting point.
- A small-group personal training environment, so you’re never just another body in a big class.
- A personal training experience WITHOUT the $100+/hour price tag,
- A focus on safety, smart progression, and full-body strength so you feel better, not beat up.
You don’t have to hate exercise.
You don’t have to crawl out of the gym after every session.
You don’t have to be screamed at to get results.
Most of our members train 2–3 days per week.
They work hard—but smart—and then get back to their real lives.
WHAT THIS CAN FEEL LIKE FOR YOU
As things start to click, people tell us:
- “I actually look forward to my workouts now.”
- “I put my sessions in my calendar and protect them.”
- “My clothes fit differently, and I feel more like myself again.”
You might not think of yourself as a “gym person” right now.
But over time, you become the person who “just works out” because it fits your life and makes you feel better—NOT because you’re obsessed with fitness.
THE JOURNEY
The only way to reach your health and fitness goals and stay there is to not dread the process.
My favorite thing to hear from someone who’s been with us for a while is:
“That wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected… and it’s been fun.”
If we can get you there—feeling stronger, more confident, and surprised by how doable it all felt—that’s a huge win.
NO LONG-TERM CONTRACTS. 14 DAYS FREE TO TRY IT.
If you’re worried about getting locked into something expensive, I understand.
That’s why:
- We don’t do long-term contracts, and
- You can try us completely free for 14 days.
Come in, meet the team, experience the workouts, and see if it feels like the right fit for you.
If it doesn’t, no hard feelings.
If it does, this could be the start of you feeling in control of your health again.
