Share the Health: Wife Brings Husband After 2 Years!

We’ve had a woman training with us for about six years now. Before she found us, she had tried everything—other gyms, group classes, even personal trainers. But none of them stuck.

Each time, it lasted two to four months. Then life would get busy, she’d miss a week or two, and that would turn into months—or even years—away from the gym.

She’s the kind of person who gets along with everyone. You’d think she’d be able to find a gym home easily. But something was always off—either the workouts were way too intense, or they weren’t challenging enough.

When she started with us, things clicked. The program pushed her the right amount. She was consistent. She stayed.

A few months in, she told us, “I think my husband would love this, but there’s no way he’s coming.” She brought it up now and then—said she kept trying to convince him.

Years passed. He got busier with work. He stopped working out altogether.He wasn’t out of shape, but he had gained a few pounds and wanted to get back to how he felt in his twenties.

He finally gave us a try—but he was skeptical. He was worried the gym would feel too much like a “women’s gym,” and that the workouts wouldn’t be tough enough.

He liked lifting weights, especially upper body workouts. He followed a style where you focus on one or two muscle groups each session—usually back, chest, shoulders, and arms. But leg day? That rarely made the cut.

We made a deal.

  • One leg exercise per session.
  • Four upper body exercises.
  • One ab exercise.That way, he wouldn’t dread an entire session of lower body work. It was manageable. And it worked.

    Fast forward—he’s been here for four years. He and his wife both come four times a week. Like with everyone, progress hasn’t always been perfectly linear. But overall, their results over the last 4–6 years have been hugely positive.I think they’d both say they’re in just about the same shape they were in their twenties.
