We all want to help the people we care about.
But when it comes to inviting someone to the gym, it can feel uncomfortable.
You don’t want to come off as pushy.
You don’t want to sound like you’re lecturing.
And you definitely don’t want to feel like you’re telling someone how to live their life.
At the same time, you probably know someone who should be exercising—but isn’t.
And most of our members started at Pratt Personal Training because someone close to them finally said something.
They didn’t always act right away.
Sometimes it took months of conversations and a personal wake-up call before they were ready to come in.
Here’s why you might hesitate—and why that’s totally normal
You might be thinking:
- “I don’t want to inconvenience the PPT staff by having them reach out to someone who never responds.”
- “I don’t want my friend to be annoyed that a business is contacting them about trying out the gym.”
- “I don’t want them to come in, dislike it, and then blame me for wasting their time.
- “I don’t want them to try it, not sign up, and have the staff feel like I wasted their time too.”All of those are reasonable concerns.
That’s why we’re not asking you to pressure anyone.
We’re just asking you to open the door.
Here’s what you can do instead
You can simply say:
“Hey, I think you might really like this place. No pressure—you can just try it out.”Let them know:
- They won’t be judged.
- They won’t be pushed past their limits.
- They won’t be treated like they don’t belong.
If they’re open to talking with us, we’ll take it from there.
- If they talk to us, they might come in.
- If they come in, there’s a good chance they’ll want to stay.
- And if they stay, six months from now, their life may be significantly better—
and they will thank you for it.
I’ll share stories of real members just like you—who helped someone take that first step without pressure or awkwardness.
Stay tuned.

My goal with the Share the Health blog series is simple:
To help more people begin their fitness and health journey—especially the ones who think the gym isn’t for them.
We want to prove that this gym is for them.
- For the person who struggles to stay consistent.
- For the person who feels stuck and unsure how to move in a positive direction toward their goals.
After you finish your next program, you’ll see space on the back of your sheet.
That’s where you can give someone a free trial—
just by writing their name down. One person.
One invite.
One small nudge that could change everything.
