He came to us after his physical therapist recommended Pratt Personal Training.
The therapist knew that if he didn’t get stronger, he’d end up right back in pain.
They also knew that our customized programs would allow him to keep doing the exercises his PT wanted him doing—while avoiding the ones that could be problematic.
He tried us out and quickly fell in love with the program.
He loved the structure, the guidance, and how it all made sense.
And naturally, he wanted his wife to experience it too.
But she was skeptical.
She didn’t see herself becoming a “gym person.”
She imagined a bunch of hardcore men and women tossing around big weights and silently judging anyone who wasn’t doing the same.
Still, she decided to try it.
Not because she was excited about lifting weights…
But because she thought it might be something fun for them to do together.
Even if it wasn’t her thing, she was willing to sacrifice a night or two per week to go with her husband, who was now training consistently.
In situations like this, we often win people over quickly—once they see the judgment they feared doesn’t exist here.
But after her first session, she still wasn’t sure.
A couple of the exercises felt a bit too challenging.
She didn’t know if it was the right fit.
But she stuck with it.
She came back three or four more times.
And then something clicked.
The exercises that felt uncomfortable on Day 1 were now easier.
She felt more confident.
She wasn’t getting as tired as she did in the beginning.
Side note: This is exactly why we customize programs.
When you’re on a program, you repeat the same exercises—not so often that you get bored, but just enough to master the skill.
It helps you:
- See progress in the weights you’re using
- Improve your technique
- Reduce the likelihood of pain or injury
It’s repetitive enough to get results—
but not so repetitive that you start dreading your workouts.
Back to the story.
She originally thought she’d show up one or two times per week.
But after giving it an honest try, she changed her mind.
She started matching her husband’s attendance.
Now they both come at least five days per week.
They train together.
They love the environment.
They love the people.
They love their workouts.
And they’re getting results.
