Hundreds of Snakes in Your Basement

I was listening to a podcast where someone explained why they hired pest control. 

They didn’t have mice. 

They just didn’t want mice. 

They weren’t waiting for scratching in the walls. They paid for prevention. 

Fitness is similar. 

Many of us — myself included at one point — have felt helpless. Eating felt out of control. Exercise inconsistent. Slowly drifting. 

I went through that phase early and found a sustainable way to change direction. 

Sometimes we treat fitness like going downstairs and finding hundreds of snakes in the basement. 

Panic. Overwhelm. “Fix this.” 

Unfortunately, those snakes didn’t show up overnight. They multiplied quietly over years. 

No exterminator can undo that in 10 minutes. 

In a perfect world, we exercise consistently. 

Make small daily adjustments to nutrition. 

Move more. 

Protect our mental health. 

Prevent the first snake. 

If you’re showing up here consistently… 

If you’re making small tweaks to your nutrition… 

If you’re paying attention to your daily activity outside the gym… 

You’re doing it. 

You’re making sure that first snake never arrives.
